UNC Research Core Facilities are a network of over 140 core facilities serve as the backbone of UNC's research infrastructure. Administered by various schools, units, and departments, core facilities offer a wide range of resources in various disciplines, enabling researchers to perform work that wouldn't be possible within the scope of their individual labs or projects.

  • Cores serve over 3,000 UNC researchers and 500 external organizations.
  • Cores serve over 2,000 sponsored projects at UNC and over 160 universities, companies, and non-profits.
  • Cores contribute to over 1,000 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
  • Cores generate an average of $40 million in revenue.

New Researcher Separation Manual

Research Compliance Services has launched a new Researcher Separation Manual to assist departing researchers in concluding research endeavors and wrapping up administrative and financial considerations at UNC. This manual replaces the 2018 Researcher/Faculty Separation Checklist.


New Subject Injury Language Process

UNC has adopted new guidance standardized subject injury language (SIL) for industry-sponsored clinical trials to increase patient transparency and simplify the IRB approval process. Read Post


Epic Form Updates on Research Central 

The Epic forms on Research Central have been updated, and the site will now house the form and the registration tipsheet. Please delete any old versions of this form that you have stored and utilize the included links to the new forms going forward.


Mobile Device Stipends on Biweekly Payroll

Biweekly employees who are eligible to receive the Mobile Device Stipend will now receive the stipend in their first paycheck each month. Read post

The UNC Office of Human Research Ethics (OHRE) is hosting June/July Office Hours both in-person and via Zoom. Registration is required. Register using UNC Events Registration (enter "UNC IRB Analyst Office Hours" in the search box).
