Research Spotlight

David Peden, MD, MS 

Dr. Peden is the senior associate dean for translational research at the UNC School of Medicine (SOM). In addition to his extensive research on the effects of allergens, the professor of pediatrics, microbiology & immunology, and medicine aided in the creation of the N.C. Translational and Clinical Research Institute (NC TraCS) and the Division of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology within the SOM. Continue

Did You Know?

Q: What is the deadline for getting proposals to OSP?

A: All proposals are due at a minimum of 5 business days prior to the sponsor’s submittal deadline. Please see Operating Standard 300.03 – Deadlines for Proposal Submission to University Offices for information on deadlines for proposal submission.
 

Q: Who will review my proposal?

A: OSP shares responsibility with the School of Medicine Sponsored Programs Office for proposal review and approval based on the sponsor. Please see Operating Standard 300.01 - Shared Responsibilities for Proposal Review & Institutional Approval for information on proposal responsiblities.

Tuition Policy Update Academic Year 2023-24

Beginning next fall, you may use your instate allocation to pay the instate tuition for eligible students regardless of their stipend funding source. Continue
 

Travel Agency Fees

To simplify the expense reconciliation process and reduce the financial impact of booking through Concur Travel/World Travel Inc, University Finance has implemented a central method of payment for World Travel Agency Fees, effective Oct. 18, 2022. Continue

 

Small Capital Project Account Codes

Beginning in FY 2023, to improve the accuracy of accounting for small capital projects (capital projects which are less or equal to $300,000), changes to account codes have been made. Continue

Update to NSF Guidelines

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has updated its Proposal & Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) for all proposals and awards effective January 30 2023 and beyond. Continue
 

Update to NIH Policy Statement 

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has updated its Grants Policy Statement (GPS) for all awards and proposals effective January 25, 2023 and beyond. Continue.
 

Reminders on Key Personnel Changes on CDC Grants

Changing key personnel on a CDC grant requires sponsor prior approval. Non-research grants requests are made in GrantSolutions and research grants requests via eRA Commons. All prior approval requests must be submitted at least 120 days before the end of the budget period and be signed by an Authorized Organizational Representative. Continue
